Twitter's Growth Slows

What's happening? Twitter are possibly asking themselves that question because according to the latest data the sites growth is slowing dramatically. Has the microblogging service peaked?

The startup began 2009 with considerable momentum, Twitter's API appealed to the developer community and this produced an ecosystem of mashups, desktop applications and mobile clients. The potential to break news and provide a real-time insight into what users were discussing and providing trending topics was huge. The service peaked in March with 13% growth but in October this had fallen to 3.5%. This shouldn't be seen as a failure though because the company and analysts state that the average active user is much more engaged compared to six months ago. About that valuation?!
