Epic

Uefa president Michel Platini may think too many English teams are spoiling the Champions League but what does he know?

Tonight's Champions League quarter-final clash between Chelsea and Liverpool was an epic and memorable encounter. I listened to the previous fixture on the radio and felt confident that we would progress through to the semi-final with our 3-1 advantage.

If there is any team capable of overturning the deficit against the odds it's Liverpool though...

Fabio Aurelio put Liverpool ahead embarrassing Cech from a free kick which caught the Chelsea goalkeeper well out of position. Last weeks hero Branislav Ivanovich then conceded a penalty which Xabi Alonso converted to reduce the aggregate score further.

I began contemplating an exit from the competition as Liverpool had the momentum and looked the more likely to score further.

After half time Chelsea were a different team, first Pepe Reina was forced into a mistake by Drogba and then Alex blasted a stunning equaliser. Lampard then scored to increase our advantage which eased my nerves but I was soon on the edge of my seat again as Lucas and Dirk Kuyt both scored and made it a tense finale before Lampard again found the back of the net to put the game beyond Liverpool and seal a semi-final clash with Barcelona
