Most Improved Award

Most Improved AwardImage by joedawson via Flickr

I collected my children from their mother today and my son couldn't wait to tell me about an award he had received. It was presented for being the Most Improved student in recognition of the work he has produced. He received a certificate and also a gold star badge which he wore proudly on his chest.

It's my daughter that usually has details about her latest achievements at school so this was unfamiliar territory. She's not used to him receiving the accolades so it was an experience for her and she was slightly perplexed. I explained that it was positive for him to be recognised, especially for making improvements and that she should be proud for him instead of being concerned that she wasn't acknowledged. She understood which is commendable, I think it's good that they're competitive especially if it leads to achieving better grades.
