Laidback, London and a Late Night!

Laidback Luke at KingsImage by Romain Heuillard via Flickr

Who is Laidback Luke?! Everyone appears to have heard of the Dutch DJ and producer except for my ears apparently! Voted #46 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJ list in 2008 there is definitely no turning back...

Laidback Luke grew up in The Netherlands and made his name as a graffiti artist before turning to making music. He has worked with artists such as David Guetta, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Junior Sanchez and played throughout Europe and North America as well as shows in Japan and Ibiza. [Source]

This week the DJ and producer brought his talent to the stage at O2's Matter, having no other London dates confirmed this year here was a chance to see one of the world's largest DJs and producer in the UK's voted No 1 superclub (Perverted Audio).

Nevermind the journey to the venue, the queue and the burger sauce that managed to make an appearance on my partners right foot (don't ask) the night was epic! Before this I was only able to consume House music in small doses, when Laidback Luke had finished his set we were left wanting more. When Love Takes Over, Let The Bass Kick and Break The House Down have all left an impression and will shortly occupy my iTunes playlist.

Matter is a decent venue, although I felt that they should have opened the main stage earlier. Still we managed to secure a position above the stage and directly opposite the DJ area, this provided a good vantage point and also enough room to distribute a bag of shapes! According to my partner I resemble Quasimodo, that appearance on Strictly Come Dancing remains just a dream. Laidback Luke won't be back in the capital for a while so at least I have plenty of time to practice.

When he does make an appearance in London we shall be there...
