Chelsea To Appeal

Chelsea v Man City FA Youth Cup Final 1st LegImage by sarflondondunc via Flickr

I admit that before today I had never heard of the French winger Gael Kakuta, although his signature could have the most impact since the Roman Abramovich era began at Chelsea.

The player joined Chelsea from Lens in 2007, with the club reported to have offered him a salary of £5,000 a week and a signing-on fee of £500,000. Today FIFA decided to ban Chelsea from registering any new players until January 2011 after reviewing the transfer.

Chelsea have stated they "will mount the strongest appeal possible", and have asked their players to remain silent for the moment. It's frustrating being a supporter because this is another bad mark against our reputation and facing the real possibility of not being able to sign new players is a concern.
