Back of the net

Back in the game, finally got the phone sorted out now and in time for my birthday as well which is a touch. Been well out of the loop so sent out some text messages to people about the plans for the weekend. Also was good with my girl as she sent me through pictures of what she was up to and the adventures she was getting into and how good she was looking in her selected outfits...
Today was all about the Champions League Quarter finals and with Liverpool looking to have already secured one Semi Final place it was down to Chelsea and Valencia to battle to become their opponent. After work I had to head over to meet my brother from London Bridge and from here we worked our way over to Stamford Bridge.

The Valencia fans were on it and were in good voice as we walked out into the stadium. Sitting in the family enclosure the Away fans are right next to us and it can get heated to say the least. Chelsea had laid out 30,000 flags for the match and we got well involved after the warm up waving them to the Chelsea tune haha.

It was a very tense game because Valencia are a strong team and I think that they were the toughest opponents we could have drawn outside the English teams left in the competition. The game started well for Chelsea and we looked to press them and force the play but Valencia were strong on the counter looking very threatening. Eventually they got the momentum and made it count with a stunning goal From Silva. Chelsea had hit the bar with Kalou's well worked shot earlier but Chelsea ended up going in at half time a goal down.

The second half saw us continually improve and there was some good link up play between Lasagna (Diarra) and Mikel. Ballack was also proving to be strong although it was left to the man of the season to finally reach the 30 goal mark Didier Drogba. After this there only really looked like one team who would score again but it just wasn't meant to be. So Valencia take the advantage back to Spain but it looks still all to play for and a great plus was the return of Joe Cole late in the game. At the moment the quadruple is still on but it's proving to be tough...

Looking forward to seeing my girl tomorrow as she has been down her parents for a few days so after my friends leaving do I will be on my way to talk more about Flags and how hot baths can be lalala ...
